Marlin Hotel Whangaroa – Under New Management

Our local iconic Hotel – The Marlin – as seen directly at the end of the jetty – has recently changed hands. Opening night was Friday 28th September.  We wish the new owners the best of luck in their new venture. The following is their latest Face Book post.

“We would first like to say a big thank you to everyone who came to celebrate the opening on Friday night . It was very humbling to see so many people there to support us . Both young and old . The music and vibe was great . Great feedback to the changes we have made. It was a great beginning for us and from all of us here at The Marlin thank you so much.

Over the last three days we have had such a positive reaction to the food . The interim menu has something for everyone and from this coming weekend we will be offering coffee , breakfast/brunch from 9am Saturday ,Sunday and Monday . We have posted our hours on our Facebook page.Food is a big focus for us at The Marlin and we have some great events planned for the up coming months . With our new deck ready for the warmer months it will be a great place to enjoy a glass of wine or a cold beer and a platter . Our outside area is now a smoke free environment which has had a very positive response from our patrons.

The wholesale is still operational during our opening hours . We are still serving beers and wine when we are serving food. Because of the floor layout we have decided to focus the early part of the day in one area which for the spring /summer season is the cafe /restaurant and deck area . (Weather permitting!) This doesn’t mean that you cannot come and enjoy a beverage outside the hours we have posted and we apologise for any confusion this has caused . As with any business we have to man it in the hours that we feel the employees are needed and have our rosters ready so they can plan their time . Over the coming months this may change as we get into the routine .

Again I would like to say thank you for all your kind support and patience .We look forward to hosting you in the not so distant future”

Paul and The Marlin Team
