Lane Cove/Duke's Nose upgraded walk
Trampers and campers who head into scenic Lane Cove, on Whangaroa Harbour, this summer will be greeted by a spruced-up trampers hut, with fewer weeds and a well-marked track to the Duke’s Nose (the Kaiara Rocks), thanks to the Department of Conservation Women’s network.
Lane Cove is one of the Far North’s leading wilderness experiences. The steep climb up to the Kaiara Rocks offers stunning views across Whangaroa Harbour.
“The view was superbly worth the jellied legs and pounding heart. I was buzzing for the rest of the day” Kaitaia area threatened plants ranger, Janeen Collings enthused.
